Costco Wholesale Corporation manufactures certain items through its Costco Wholesale Industries division, encompassing special food packaging, optical laboratories, meat processing, and jewelry distribution, and operates e-commerce websites in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Mexico, South Korea, Taiwan, Japan, and Australia. Founded in 1983 and headquartered in Issaquah, Washington, following its roots in the 1976 Price Club and a 1993 merger, the company conducts operations in the United States, Canada, and other international markets including Australia, Japan, the United Kingdom, Spain, Mexico, Taiwan, Iceland, Korea, and Sweden with approximately 914 warehouses worldwide. Recent developments include aggressive expansion with 27 new warehouses opened in fiscal year 2025, including relocations in Canada, the 20th location in Korea, and the second in Sweden, alongside plans for 35 additional openings in fiscal 2026; the launch of over 30 new Kirkland Signature items such as grass-fed beef sticks, organic extra firm tofu, lager, vodka and soda, and improved diapers; a partnership with Novo Nordisk to offer GLP-1 medications like Ozempic and Wegovy at fixed monthly costs; increased emphasis on Kirkland Signature to offset tariff impacts and enhance value; and a quarterly dividend increase to $1.30 per share effective May 2025.
